Before you save
Confirm the content is public and that you created it, own it, or have permission to keep it. If the media belongs to a client, creator, or brand partner, check whether the permission covers internal archive, reposting, paid ads, or portfolio use. Those are different rights.
When you save
Use a consistent naming system. A good filename includes platform, date, campaign, and a short descriptor. Store the file in a folder that mirrors your work: client, project, month, or channel. Keep captions, source links, and usage notes near the media file.
After you save
Review your archive every month. Remove duplicates, flag files with unclear permissions, and move final approved assets into a long-term folder. A clean archive saves time when you need to report, repost, create a portfolio, or hand off work to a team.
